The Congress party gave him a ticket from Ahmedabad East for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. However, he announced his decision to withdraw his candidature citing his father's ill health. However, a few days later he resigned from all the Congress posts and has now joined the BJP office in Delhi.

Rohan Gupta, who withdrew his name as the Congress candidate from Ahmedabad East, joined the BJP

While joining BJP, Rohan Gupta said, “I am joining BJP today on the holy days of Navratri. Being a youth, which is Modiji's vision for 2047. Naddaji, Amit Shahji and the BJP family have a vision and dream for the country and as an Indian citizen I felt that I should also contribute. Whatever responsibility is given for nation building, I will do it wholeheartedly.”

In an indirect attack on a senior Congress party leader, Rohan Gupta said, "When Sanatan was being insulted, those who have 'Ram' in their name told us to keep quiet."

Withdrawal of candidature after declaration of name for Lok Sabha

Congress candidate from Ahmedabad East seat Rohan Gupta resigned from all party posts and primary membership after withdrawing his candidature suddenly.

Resigning from the party, he wrote, "I am saddened by the constant insults from a senior leader of the Congress communication department for the last two years and I am forced to take this decision at a time of crisis in my personal life."

Earlier he withdrew his candidature from the Lok Sabha elections.

At that time, he gave information about this on the social media platform X. In a tweet, he shared a letter addressed to Gujarat Pradesh Congress President Shaktisinh Gohil.

I have decided to withdraw my candidature from Ahmedabad East Lok Sabha seat. I will give my full support to whichever candidate is selected by the party.

With Rohan Gupta withdrawing his candidature, Gujarat Congress leaders are also feeling confused. The Congress has so far announced the names of seven candidates for the Lok Sabha elections in Gujarat.

It should be noted here that the problems of the Congress party in Gujarat are not ending. On March 6, Kangra, a Congress stronghold in Gujarat and especially in Saurashtra, also collapsed with senior party leaders Arjun Modhwadia and Ambarish Der joining the BJP.

Big blow for Congress

Political analyst Ajay Umat termed Rohan Gupta's withdrawal from the Ahmedabad East seat as a big blow for the party.

In a conversation , he says, "It is natural that Rohan Gupta's decision not to contest the election will shock the party. BJP is in a strong position on this seat. Harin Pathak was elected MP from this seat for a long time and then Paresh Rawal got a chance. Ahmedabad East, Ahmedabad West and Gandhinagar seats are in a way BJP's stronghold.

Could Rohan Gupta have taken such a decision when there was no chance of winning? In response, Ajay Umat says that this can also be a reason.

"BJP leaders were constantly making personal allegations against Rohan Gupta. He must have felt that it is better not to contest the elections.

He further states that several names are being considered by the Congress party. Congress leaders Himmat Patel and Kailash Parmar have shown their readiness to contest the elections. The party has to decide now.

BJP has given ticket to Hasmukh Patel
