Why didn't PM Narendra Modi get permission to hold a road show in Tamil Nadu?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to hold a road show in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu on March 18. This road show is about three and a half kilometers long.

However, the Tamil Nadu police did not give permission to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the road show. The police, in charge of security, denied permission for the road show.

BJP approached the High Court in this matter, finally the Tamil Nadu High Court has allowed this rally with some conditions.

Against this decision, Coimbatore BJP district president J Ramesh Kumar filed a petition in the High Court.

He said in the petition, “The police order was against the fundamental rights granted under Article 19 of the Constitution of India. The reasons given by the police were not at all reasonable. Though we are ready to abide by any conditions imposed to hold the road show, it has been completely ignored by the police for political reasons.”

He said in the petition that he had sought permission from the police for the road show on March 14. This four kilometer road show will pass through Mettupalayam Road.

The BJP district president added that the purpose of this road show is to inform the people of Coimbatore about the welfare programs launched by the Prime Minister.
