Lok Sabha Election 2024 results have been declared. BJP has won 240 seats and Congress has won 99 seats. According to the election results, BJP did not get a clear majority. In Gujarat, BJP has won 25 out of 26 seats while Congress has won one seat. For the first time since 2009, the Congress has successfully elected a seat in Gujarat.

The Congress party won from the only Banaskantha seat in Gujarat. Congress candidate Ganibhan Thakor won this seat with more than 30 thousand votes in a tight fight. BJP candidate Dr. Rekhabehan Chaudhary got more than six lakh 41 thousand votes.

It is worth mentioning here that BJP candidate Mukesh Dalal was elected unopposed from Surat seat of Gujarat. In Gujarat, BJP president CR Patil had targeted more than five lakh leads in all 26 Lok Sabha seats. CR Patil himself won from the Navsari seat with a lead of more than seven lakh votes, but how well did the BJP candidates win from the remaining 24 seats in Gujarat?

Talking about Ahmedabad East, BJP candidate Hasmukhbhai Patel won this seat with a margin of about four lakh 61 thousand votes. Congress candidate Himat Singh Patel was on this seat.

BJP candidate Dineshbhai Makwana won from Ahmedabad West seat against Congress candidate Bharatbhai Makwana by more than two lakh 86 thousand votes.

BJP candidate Bharatbhai Sutaria won from Saurashtra's Amreli seat with a margin of more than three lakh 21 thousand votes. In this meeting, Jennibehan of Congress entered the election field against him. She is the daughter of former Congress MP and former MLA Virji Thummar.

BJP candidate Prabhubhai Vasava won from Bardoli seat by more than 2 lakh 30 thousand votes. Congress candidate Siddharth Chaudhary was contesting against Vasava on this seat.

BJP candidate Neemubhan Bambania won from Saurashtra's Bhavnagar seat with a huge margin of more than four lakh 55 thousand votes. Umesh Makwana was the candidate of India Gathbandhan and Aam Aadmi Party from this seat. He got around 2 lakh 61 thousand votes.

BJP's Jasubhai Rathwa won from Chhota Udepur Lok Sabha seat in South Gujarat by more than three lakh 98 thousand votes. He was pitted against Congress candidate Sukhrambhai Rathwa. Sukhram Rathwa got about four lakh votes. He is a former Congress MLA and was also the Leader of Opposition in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly.

BJP candidate Jaswantsinh Bhabhor won from Dahod Lok Sabha seat with a margin of more than three lakh 33 thousand votes. Congress candidate Dr. Prabhaben was against Taviad from this seat.

From Saurashtra's Jamnagar seat, BJP's current Member of Parliament Poonambahen Madam won by more than two lakh 38 thousand votes. He faced Congress candidate J.P. Maraviya was against, who got more than three lakh 82 thousand votes.

How many votes did BJP candidates win in Saurashtra and Kutch?

BJP candidate Rajeshbhai Chudasma won another seat of Saurashtra from Junagadh with a margin of more than 1 lakh 35 thousand votes. On this seat, he was pitted against Congress' Hirabhai Jotwa. Heerabhai got more than four lakh 48 thousand votes.

BJP candidate Vinod Chavda won the Lok Sabha seat of Kutch by more than 2 lakh 68 thousand votes. He was pitted against Congress candidate Nitesh Lalan, who got more than three lakh 90 thousand votes. BJP's Vinod Chavda has won the Lok Sabha elections from this seat for the third time.

BJP candidate Devusinh Chauhan won from Kheda Lok Sabha seat in central Gujarat by more than three lakh 57 thousand votes. On this seat, the candidate of Congress was Kalusinh Dabhi, who got three lakh 86 thousand votes.

Incumbent BJP candidate Haribhai Patel won from Mehsana seat in North Gujarat by 3 lakh 28 thousand votes. Congress candidate Ramji Thakor got three lakh 58 thousand votes.BJP candidate from Saurashtra's Porbandar seat and Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya registered victory with a lead of more than three lakh 83 thousand votes. Against him, the Congress fielded Lalit Vasoya, who got around two lakh 49 thousand votes.

From the Rajkot seat, BJP's stalwart leader and Union Minister Parshottam Rupala won with a lead of more than four lakh 84 thousand votes despite opposition from the Kshatriya movement. Senior Congress leader Paresh was contesting against Dhanani. Dhanani got about three lakh 73 thousand votes.

BJP's Chandubhai Shihora won from Surendranagar seat of Saurashtra with a margin of more than two lakh 61 thousand votes. Ritvikbhai Makwana, the Congress candidate from Surendranagar, got more than four lakh eight thousand votes.

Seats where BJP's lead has reduced by more than one lakh compared to 2019 Lok Sabha elections

The BJP won 21 of the 25 seats it won in Gujarat with a margin of less than five lakh. BJP won seats like Bharuch, Anand, Patan, Sabarkantha and Valsad, but this time the lead in these seats has reduced by more than one lakh votes compared to its lead in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Valsad Lok Sabha seat in South Gujarat is an ST reserved seat.

This time BJP gave ticket to Dhaval Patel as a new candidate from Valsad seat. He won this seat with a margin of more than 2 lakh 10 thousand votes. However, the BJP candidate in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Dr. KC Patel won this seat by more than three and a half lakh votes. Thus, BJP's lead in this Valsad seat also decreased by 1 lakh 40 thousand compared to 2019. Congress fielded MLA and tribal leader Anant Patel from Vansada.


BJP's Mitesh Patel won the 2019 Lok Sabha election from Anand seat by more than 1 lakh 97 thousand votes. However, this time his winning margin was reduced to around 89 thousand 939. Senior Congress leader Amit Chavda contested against Mitesh Patel from this seat.


BJP candidate and sitting Member of Parliament Mansukhbhai Vasava won the 2019 election from Bharuch seat by more than 3 lakh 34 thousand votes. However, this time he has won this seat with a margin of 85 thousand votes. He was pitted against youth tribal leader and Aam Aadmi Party candidate Chaitar Vasava on this seat. Chaitar Vasava is AAP MLA from Dediapada.


Talking about Patan seat, BJP candidate and Member of Parliament Bharatsinhji Dabhi won in 2019 with a margin of around one lakh 93 thousand. However, in this election, he won the Patan seat with a margin of only 31 thousand. However, Congress candidate Chandanji Thakor was leading till 16 rounds of counting.


Hasmukh Parmar, a senior journalist covering politics in North Gujarat, told BBC Gujarati, "Chandanji was ahead for 16 rounds of counting but at the end of the Kankerage and Kheralu assembly constituencies, the BJP cut into his lead. Kheralu is the hometown of BJP's winning candidate, Bharat Singh Davi, and from there Votes lost to BJP cost Chandanji heavily."


BJP candidate Shobhanabehan Baraiya won the election from Sabarkantha seat by more than one lakh 55 thousand votes. However, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP candidate Dipsinh Rathore won from the same seat by more than two lakh 68 thousand votes. Thus, BJP's lead in this seat has decreased by about 1 lakh 13 thousand as compared to 2019. Congress candidate Tushar Chaudhary got more than five lakh 21 thousand votes from this seat.


About this, senior journalist and political analyst Naresh Varia said, "The internal discontent of the BJP workers and leaders is also responsible for the BJP's leadership in Gujarat falling in several seats. There was also opposition to the recruitment of leaders from the Congress and AAP. Even at the time of voting in the elections, many of the party Activists did not remain active and polling also decreased. All these factors contributed to reducing the BJP's lead."

Before the election, the BJP leaders claimed in their election campaign that they will win all the seats with a margin of five lakhs. BJP President CR Patil first announced such a target.


He said, “We are winning 26 seats from two times. So this time Gujarat should do something new right? We have to win each seat with a lead of five lakh votes and give a gift to Prime Minister Modi.”

However, the BJP won only four of the total 26 seats in Gujarat with a lead of more than five lakh votes. BJP won Gandhinagar, Navsari, Panchmahal and Vadodara seats by more than five lakh votes.

Current Member of Parliament and State President of Gujarat BJP CR Patil won from Navsari seat with a huge majority of more than seven lakh 73 thousand votes. Congress candidate Naishadbhai Desai got more than two lakh 57 thousand votes from this seat. In 2019, CR Patil won Navsari with the largest lead in the country.


Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah won by more than seven lakh 44 thousand votes in Gujarat's capital Gandhinagar. His match was against Congress candidate Sonalbehan Patel. Amit Shah has become MP from Gandhinagar for the second time.

BJP's Hemang Joshi won from Vadodara seat in central Gujarat by more than five lakh 82 thousand votes. Congress candidate Jashpal Singh Padhiyar from Vadodara got more than two lakh 91 thousand votes. In Vadodara, MP Ranjanbehan Bhatt was given ticket by BJP but he refused to contest due to opposition in BJP itself and BJP gave ticket to Hemang Joshi.


BJP leader Rajpal Singh Jadav won from Panchmahal Lok Sabha seat by more than five lakh nine thousand votes. Congress candidate Gulab Singh Chauhan got about two lakh 85 thousand votes.
