Ever since the Congress announced its manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections, there has been a fierce attack from the BJP leaders regarding the manifesto.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are constantly accusing the Congress of being in charge of the Congress' election manifesto.

The veracity of the claims made by BJP leaders including Modi regarding the Congress election manifesto

In this report, we will try to shed light on how much truth there is in the claims made by these top leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party on the issue of the Congress manifesto.

But before that let us know what these leaders are saying about the Congress election manifesto?

BJP's claims on the issue of Congress's election manifesto

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a rally, "If the Congress government comes, every citizen's wealth will be surveyed."

He referred to the statement made by Congress leader Sam Pitroda on the issue of distribution of wealth in an election meeting in Chhattisgarh.

Addressing an election rally in Chhattisgarh, PM Modi said, "As long as you are alive, Congress will hit you with more taxes and when you are not alive, you will be burdened with inheritance tax."

So according to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh , "Congress has indicated reservation for religious minorities in government jobs in the election manifesto this time."

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said at a rally in Baghpat that "Congress says we will enforce Shariat law by enforcing personal law."

BJP President JP Nadda said, "When I saw the Congress manifesto, I was surprised whether it was the Congress party's manifesto or the Muslim League's. The same way the Muslim League demanded reservation on the basis of religion, the Congress is repeating the same thing today."

Congress's reply

In response to all these allegations, Congress president Mallikarjun Khadge in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "Congress's justice policy aims to provide justice to youth, women, farmers and marginalized people of every caste and community and you are being misinformed by your counsel on the issues which It is not written in the manifesto."

Responding to Prime Minister Modi's allegations, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, "In 55 years, has the Congress taken away anyone's gold or mangalsutra? When the country was fighting a war, Indiraji donated her mangalsutra and jewellery. Lakhs of women sacrificed their mangalsutra for this country. When my Where was the Prime Minister when the sisters had to pawn their Mangalsutra in demonetisation?"

How much truth in the allegations made on the BJP's Congress manifesto?

We compared what was said in the speeches of BJP leaders with what was written in the manifesto of the Congress and tried to understand whether the allegations leveled against the Congress were true or baseless.

Prime Minister Modi said, "What the Congress has said in its election manifesto is worrisome, serious. If the Congress government comes, everyone's wealth will be surveyed. How much gold our sisters have, it will be checked, it will be accounted for. Silver in our tribal families. If there is, the amount of silver will be calculated."

However, there is no mention of redistribution of wealth in the Congress manifesto .

"The disparity between the rich and the poor has grown notably between the years 2014 and 2023," the electoral manifesto said.

Responding to Prime Minister Modi's allegation, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said, "Narendra Modi is trembling with fear of defeat, so he keeps telling one lie after another. He knows that the people of India have understood that Narendra Modi is the leader of the billionaires, not the poor. They know that the people of Hindustan have stood up to defend the Constitution."

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said, "In this time's election manifesto, Congress has again hinted at reservation for religious minorities in government jobs, if it is implemented, it can also bring the armed forces under its purview. This is an idea that can affect the unity and integrity of the country."

However, Rajnath Singh did not say in which part of the election manifesto he got such a hint or indication.

The manifesto calls for "10 percent reservation for all castes and communities without discrimination in jobs and educational institutions for economically weaker sections".

Also the Congress has guaranteed in the election manifesto that "it will pass a constitutional amendment to raise the maximum limit of 50 per cent on reservation for Scheduled Castes, Tribes and OBC communities."

Apart from this, part of the manifesto deals with "religious and linguistic minorities", which calls for implementing the Maulana Azad Scholarship for studying abroad and increasing the number of scholarships. Also, the election manifesto talks about encouraging and assisting minority students and youth for increased opportunities in education, employment, business, services, sports and other fields.

Congress Media and Publicity Department Head Pawan Kheda wrote, "Challenge to the Prime Minister to show where Hindu Muslim is written in our election manifesto."

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said at a rally, "When you look at the Congress manifesto, two things stand out in it. One, the Congress says that we will implement personal law and enforce Shariat law. It means for the constitution made by Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar. These people want to create a threat to the constitution of this country. Are we going to accept the Taliban's rule?"

On the other hand, under the section on "Religious and Linguistic Minorities" in the Congress manifesto, it is written, "We will encourage amendments in personal laws. Such amendments should be made with the consent and cooperation of the communities." There are no words like 'Shariat', 'Taliban' in the election manifesto, so it is not clear on what basis he said these things.
